Nathaniel Laws is accused of shooting and killing Abdullah Abbas, 20, and Abbas' girlfriend, Kylee Silva, 18, during a deal to buy guns and drugs. Police say Abbas used the social media app, Telegram, to sell drugs and guns. They say Abbas and Laws arranged to meet on June 4, 2024 in northeast Albuquerque to complete the sale of guns and drugs. Police say during the incident Laws shot both Abbas and Silva. Abbas died a few days after the shooting and Silva died at the scene.
APD detectives created a timeline that detailed the incident and were later alerted to Laws trying to sell a gun that appeared to be the gun Abbas had in his possession at the time of the shooting. Police searched the home that Laws was staying at and found the gun that was used to kill Abbas and Silva. After interviewing Laws, he was arrested and faces multiple charges including murder and armed robbery.
