EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — When Rhode Island legalized marijuana in May 2022, the law said 24 retail stores could open. But now, two and a half years later, there aren't any new shops outside of the existing dispensaries allowed to sell recreational cannabis.
