Could new pot shops open in RI this year?

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — When Rhode Island legalized marijuana in May 2022, the law said 24 retail stores could open.
But now, two and a half years later, there aren't any new shops outside of the existing dispensaries allowed to sell recreational cannabis.
In the video above, Globe RI reporter Steph Machado joins 12 News at 4 to break down the new rules that could pave the way for new pot shops.
