MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- As that winter weather comes in, Memphis now has a new plan to plow and treat roads. City leaders say it's in line with other sister cities and works hand in hand with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, treating city streets intersecting with TDOT routes. Starting Thursday evening about 35 city workers and contractors will work around the clock pre-treating roads with brine ahead of the precipitation, then salting them when it snows. Winter Storm: Several inches of snow Friday, dangerous travel conditions Fifteen salt trucks and 12 heavy equipment plows sit locked and loaded for Friday's arctic blast.  "I feel good about the plan. We put a lot of work into it over the summer and fall, getting ready for it," said Director of Public Works Scott Morgan. This marks Scott Morgan's first winter storm as Memphis' new Director of Public Works. With new leadership comes a new "route-based" plan for roadways. "So, prior to, this year, we would mix with a mixture of sand. And so this year we're going with just a straight salt. That'll allow a better treatment of the roads," he said. The roads in red are top priority. "It will provide more connectivity. It will be more efficient," said Morgan. "The biggest thing is to be mindful of the routes. Be patient with the crews. You know, it will take time to go through all the routes." After the storm, we know potholes typically become an issue. Morgan says crews will be ready to roll out after the storm to tackle those next. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather
