Less than a week after central and eastern Kentucky received several inches of snow and freezing rain, another dose of winter weather is expected. Evan Webb is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Louisville. He said up to half a foot of snow is likely in central Kentucky – but there’s good news, too. “Fortunately, this winter storm will bring all snow, no mixed precipitation, no ice to deal with this wave, so central Kentucky will just see a widespread three to six inches.” Meteorologist Philomon Geertson of the weather service’s Jackson office predicted much the same for eastern Kentucky. “That snow could come down relatively heavy at times during the afternoon and evening hours, and then it’s generally expected to taper off from west to east as we head into the overnight hours.” Geertson said the highest snow accumulations are expected south of the Mountain Parkway and west of U.S. 23.
