'Stunned': North Carolina man wins $200,757 after buying $1 lottery ticket at convenience store

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) -- David Meehling, of Wilmington, bought a $1 Cash 5 ticket on Tuesday and won a $200,757 jackpot, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.
“I was kind of stunned,” Meehling said.

He bought his winning ticket from the Masonboro Country Store on Masonboro Loop Road in Wilmington.
His ticket matched all five numbers in the drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598.
“I had to look again to make sure I saw it right,” Meehling said.
He claimed his prize on Wednesday at lottery headquarters.
After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $144,044.
Meehling said he already has plans for his winnings.
“We like to go on cruises,” he said. “This will make it a lot sweeter next time.”
