APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - On Thursday, law enforcement groups from throughout the country celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day as communities thanked and honored those who serve the public. The Appleton Police Department used the day to honor one of its most recent retirees, K-9 Eon, in a Facebook post. Green Lake Area Animal Shelter using promotion for January 2025 dog adoptions Eon was the department's first explosive detection K-9 and the longest serving with more than nine years serving the Appleton community and at numerous events. Eon worked to ensure the safety at Packers games, Badgers games and countless other public events. Eon is now enjoying his early days of retirement, as he continues his life with his handler, Sergeant Schneider of the Appleton Police Department.
