GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay is thanking the community for their generosity during its 2024 Christmas Campaign and for helping to raise over $1 million. Officials with the Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay announced that the 2024 campaign raised $1,118,177. Even though the amount was just short of their $1.32 million goal, the bells rang loud and the red kettles shined bright over the Holidays. Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office collects over 400 blankets during fundraiser "We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from our neighbors, businesses, and volunteers," said Major Catherine Fitzgerald, Area Coordinator. "Every donation, every moment spent ringing a bell, and every act of kindness helped make this possible. While we didn’t quite reach our goal, the love and generosity shown by our community have been nothing short of inspiring." The funds raised during the Christmas Campaign provide vital resources to sustain programs that address hunger, homelessness, and other critical needs throughout the year. Officials credited the red kettles, and especially those who volunteered their time to ring bells and encourage donations. The time spent bell ringing amounted to an increase of 540 hours year over year. 11-year-old from Wisconsin competiting for $25,000 on Food Network’s ‘Kids Baking Championship’ "Every time a person in need stops in our Corps Community Center for a warm lunch or when a parent comes to our Angel Tree program to select toys that make Christmas joyful for their kids," added Major Jonathan Fitzgerald. "Our community can take heart knowing their volunteer hours and financial support have made Salvation Army programs like this possible." The donations don't stop after the Holidays, however.
