Oshkosh fire chief heading back to home state of Colorado, takes new job

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - Oshkosh Fire Chief Mike Stanley has announced he will step down at the end of January to accept a position as Deputy Fire Chief in Greeley, Colorado.
Stanley has served as Oshkosh Fire Chief since 2018. Before his time in Wisconsin, he held various roles with Aurora Fire Rescue in Colorado, including Operations Division Commander, where he oversaw the Medical Branch of Emergency Medical Services for the department's 400 members.

He holds an associate degree from Red Rocks Community College, a bachelor's degree from Charter Oak State College, and a master's degree from Colorado State University. Stanley is also designated as a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
The city of Oshkosh thanked Stanley for his service and wished him well in his new role.

“Mike shared with me that although this was a difficult personal and professional decision, the opportunity in Greeley will allow him to better assist family members in his home state of Colorado,” said interim City Manager John Fitzpatrick.
Stanley will remain in his role as Oshkosh Fire Chief through Jan. 29.
