COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Crews with the Columbia-Richland Fire Department controlled a fire that started in the garage of a Keenan Drive home, said the fire dept. Fire officials said second shift crews responded to a home shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. While on the way to the fire, crews could see smoke in the air and called for a working fire dispatch, said officials. Once at the scene they found smoke and fire coming from the garage. Three people in the home had escaped to safety and there were no injuries reported. The fire was extinguished and its cause was determined to be space heaters that were being used in the garage.
