COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– School choice is a hotly debated topic at the South Carolina State House. During the upcoming legislative session lawmakers plan to reintroduce it again. Last year, the state’s private school voucher program was struck down by the South Carolina Supreme Court. The court ruled that taxpayers funds could not be used towards private education. Those who want to reinstate the program are proposing using lottery revenue instead. Lawmakers return to the State House on Tuesday.
