Colorado State Patrol seeking additional vehicle in fatal hitandrun investigation

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) continues to look for a second vehicle that may have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run that happened on Wednesday morning, Jan. 8 at the intersection of Peterson Road and Constitution Avenue.
On Thursday, Jan. 9 at noon, CSP said the driver of the first vehicle involved has since come forward and has spoken with investigators. "Investigators are still looking for a second vehicle that was turning left behind a black truck, and any other witnesses with information," CSP wrote.
According to CSP, troopers responded to the intersection of Peterson Rd. and Constitution Ave. just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday. CSP said the driver of a pickup truck hit a pedestrian before driving from the scene. Troopers said the victim, identified as a 76-year-old woman, was pronounced dead on the scene.

"The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing Constitution Ave. in the crosswalk when the pickup truck, traveling eastbound on Constitution Ave., struck the pedestrian,” CSP wrote on Wednesday.
CSP said the crash is still being investigated and no charges have been filed at this time.
