List: Canceled Baton Rouge airport flights to and from Dallas due to winter storm in Texas
Jan 09, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A severe winter storm has led to significant travel disruptions across Texas, particularly affecting air travel between Baton Rouge and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
As of Thursday, Jan. 9, American Airlines flights from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport to Dallas-Fort Worth were canceled due to current and expected weather conditions in the area.
"While the airport remains open and only DFW flights have been affected so far, we advise all passengers planning to travel today or in the coming days to monitor weather conditions at their intended destinations," said Kristin Jewell, the manager of Marketing, Public Relations, and Air Service Development at BTR.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of north Texas, including Dallas, in effect until noon Friday. The storm is expected to bring a mix of snow, sleet, and rain, with accumulations between two and four inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze.
American Airlines said due to the weather, travelers could rebook their flights without any change fees.
"We also recommend communicating directly with their airline for the most up-to-date information on flight status, cancellations, rebooking options, and any other accommodations. Airlines have dedicated customer service teams available to assist with rescheduling and other needs," Jewell said.
