A 45-year-old woman who works as a teacher’s aide in Ohio has been charged with raping a 15-year-old student with a learning disability, authorities said. Christin Coble was booked into the Sandusky County Jail on Tuesday, according to online inmate records. Coble, who’s employed as a paraprofessional at the Woodmore Local School District, allegedly raped the student at his home on Monday, when schools were closed due to inclement weather, investigators said. The student’s mother claims she caught Coble raping her 15-year-old son, who prosecutors say has an IQ of 58. Coble appeared in Sandusky County Court on Wednesday when prosecutors requested a $150,000 bond and an electronic GPS monitoring system, local TV station WTOL reported. “It is the job of [the] bond to protect society, including the most vulnerable in our society,” Assistant Prosecutor Joshua Clark told the court. After Coble’s attorney asked the judge to consider “something less than $150,000,” noting her client “could comply with every and all terms in a pretrial release bond,” the bond was set at $100,000. The judge also ordered Coble not to have any contact with the victim’s family. Earlier this week, Woodmore Schools Superintendent Mary Schaeffer confirmed in a statement shared with the press that “Coble is employed by the Woodmore Local School District as a paraprofessional.” While the district can’t comment on ongoing investigations, Coble was placed on administrative leave Tuesday, Schaeffer added. The case will now be presented to a grand jury.
