The Lions’ well-respected offensive line coach will interview for the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator position on Friday. It looks like the Detroit Lions have to worry about losing more than just offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn this offseason. According to NFL Network, Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley is set to interview for the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator position on Friday.
This is the first offensive coordinator interview for Fraley, who has been a long-time offensive line coach in the NFL. Fraley spent three years as the Vikings offensive line coach, one year at UCLA, two years as the Lions’ assistant offensive line coach, before getting promoted to his current position back in 2020.
Fraley has been an invaluable asset in building the Lions' offensive line into one of the best units in the NFL. Fraley is so well-loved by his players that left tackle Taylor Decker personally vouched to head coach Dan Campbell to keep his position coach back in 2021.
“One thing I flat out asked for was to give Hank an opportunity to interview for the job,” Decker said. “Don’t just clean house, because I think he does a really great job. I think he has a really great understanding of the game. Studies the hell out of everything and all the defenses. And I think his approach with delivering information and new techniques is fantastic because he played the game for 11 years. He’s good for the room—a lot of young guys in the room—and I think he’s done a really good job.”
