SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- On Wednesday afternoon, four staff members from the San Diego Humane Society departed for Pasadena, where they will assist in the evacuation of pets affected by the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area.
Responding to an urgent request from Pasadena Humane Society, the San Diego team is helping to free up much-needed space in their shelter to support ongoing evacuations due to the nearby Eaton Fire, said officials with the local Human Society.

Their efforts are meant to alleviate the strain on the Los Angeles-area shelter as they work tirelessly to care for animals displaced by the fires. The Humane Society mobilized quickly, sending two vehicles filled with staff and essential supplies to Pasadena.
Once there, the San Diego team will assist in evacuating animals. Upon their return, around 15 to 20 dogs will make their way south. These dogs, who were awaiting new homes, will be evaluated by the local Humane Society staff before being placed up for adoption once intake exams and necessary protocols are completed.
