(BCN) -- Police in Santa Rosa arrested a carjacking suspect who they say fired a gun at them as they gave chase, the department said Wednesday.
On Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Earle and South Davis streets to investigate a reported carjacking. The victim said a man pulled out a gun on him, robbed him of his wallet and keys, and then took off in his Toyota Sienna van.
Officers began searching for the van and saw it driving on Sebastopol Road about 10 minutes later. A traffic stop was initiated near Roseland Avenue, but the suspect fled from the vehicle and ran west on the Joe Rodota Trail.

Police followed the suspect on foot and allege that he fired a round from a firearm in an area of the trail that was extremely dark at the time, the department said.

Eventually an officer spotted the suspect on Sendero Lane and began to give commands to him to surrender, which he did after more officers arrived, along with a K-9 unit.
Police said a butterfly knife was found in the suspect's pocket and a search in a nearby backyard in the 500 block of Roseland Avenue yielded a ghost gun that had recently been fired.Police are still determining if the round fired was aimed at officers, the department said.Arrested was Emilio Torres, 32, of Santa Rosa.
