SILVER LAKE (KSNT) - Kansas Gas Service (KGS) has responded to several reports of an odor in Silver Lake on Thursday. KGS spokeswoman Dawn Tripp said the source of the odor doesn't appear to be related to KGS. "Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the community following safety protocols by calling us and local authorities," Tripp said. 27 News spoke to Silver Lake City Clerk Marie Beam who said the odor was reported to the local fire and police department. She said she's seen a lot of trucks go through town to investigate. Why hasn’t mail been delivered in northeast Kansas yet? Tripp said that anyone who suspects the smell of natural gas, often described as smelling like rotten eggs, to leave the area immediately and call 911 before then calling the KGS at 888-482-4950.
