VIDEO: Full dangerousness hearing “I visited with the officers affected and this incident was extremely traumatizing to not only them and their families, but for all our officers.  In all my years here in the city, I cannot recall an incident where a subject attempted to go to an officers’ home in the middle of the night.  Our officers work in an incredibly dangerous profession.  When they go home to their families, they should, like all our residents, feel safe.  This type of behavior is unacceptable.  I’m proud of all our responding officers and crime analysts who worked together to locate this subject before anything escalated," said Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence Akers.  “I commend our Springfield Police officers for diffusing this alarming situation which could have ended very differently. Law enforcement is an honorable profession, one that embodies the spirit of public service. Our Springfield Police Department, and all of our public safety officials, efforts to protect and serve our community should not result in personal attacks. That is unacceptable. I fully support our Police Superintendent Larry Akers and all our brave and dedicated men and women in blue and am glad that everyone involved is safe. To all of our officers, thank you for your continued courage and selflessness," said Mayor Domenic Sarno.
