Houma man faces additional charges in child sex crimes case

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — A Houma man who was arrested in connection with a child sex crimes case in December has been arrested on additional charges.
On Dec. 18, 2024, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported that 25-year-old Tyler Matherne allegedly "admitted to sending sexually motivated photographs to a juvenile" during an interview with detectives after he was identified as a suspect in the case.

Matherne was arrested and booked on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
On Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, TPSO officials said additional charges were brought against Matherne after the discovery of additional evidence.

According to the sheriff's office, a search of one of Matherne's devices prompted another interview with detectives where Matherne "admitted to receiving sexually motivated photographs and videos from multiple underage victims."
After the interview, Matherne was charged with pornography involving juveniles.
