A snowstorm will hit the Mid-South on Thursday night and Friday. WREG Weather experts say most areas can expect several inches of snow.
Winter Storm: Several inches of snow Friday, dangerous travel conditions
Several parents in Cross County say school officials should have canceled classes for Friday a long time ago.
“We’ve known it’s coming. The highway department has been out spraying. Everyone has been prepping and everything. So, like we have known it’s been coming," said a parent.

Cross County School District Superintendent Nathan Morris says it’s not that simple. There is a whole process, including seeing the conditions for himself.
In a statement he says, “Early each morning, the transportation director and I assess road conditions firsthand and consult with the Cross County Sheriff’s Department to ensure we make the best call for our students and staff. We try to make the decision the night before, but in the event we can not, they are typically made before 5:30 a.m., and families will be notified through text messages, our website, and social media."
This parent believes the superintendent is wasting time.
“If we wait till the morning of and I don't have a babysitter, I'm going to end up having to call out of work myself because I can't just get a babysitter at 6:00 in the morning. And I don't think a lot of parents care. I mean, a lot of parents are probably already not going to send their kids. So they're going to be missing anyway. And we do have days built into the school calendar to make up for the snow day," the parent said.
