City council member accuses KY legislator of sexual harassment

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington council member Emma Curtis is asking Representative Daniel Grossberg to step down from his position in Kentucky’s legislature.
“He’s somebody that drunkenly interrogated me about my genitals and sex life in his office at the Capitol in Frankfort,” Curtis said.
In a statement posted online by Curtis and two other women, they claim Grossberg sent “sexually harassing messages to several young women.”
“Young women and girls deserve to know that they are safe in their state capital,” she said. “Right now, they’re not because we have somebody like Daniel Grossberg in office and we have Republican leadership enabling him to stay there.”
The Kentucky Democratic Party also released a statement on Wednesday about Representative Grossberg which says, in part, the following:
“Republicans in the general assembly were quick to remove their own members from committees for bucking leadership, but are now rewarding Daniel Grossberg, an individual with a disturbing, documented record of sexual assault and harassment.”
The state also adds that Grossberg was assigned to three house committees following his expulsion from the House Democratic Caucus.
“The fact that he’s been able to escape accountability for his actions is why people don’t trust their elected officials anymore,” Curtis said.
Along with Curtis, the Kentucky Democratic Party, and several other government officials, Governor Andy Beshear has also called for the resignation of Grossberg.
“You don’t have a right to the seat in the legislature, that is a privilege that you lost when you chose to abuse your power to hurt young women and girls in this Commonwealth,” Curtis said.
We reached out to Representative Grossberg and his attorney for a comment but have not received any statements regarding the allegations.
