Will we see any snow in the Charleston area? Maybe a few brief flurries

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Some areas of the Lowcountry could see a brief period of winter weather on Friday morning while others will only see cold rain.
Portions of South Carolina from the Midlands to the Upstate are preparing for some form of winter weather this week as a storm system set to move across the region mixes with very cold temperatures.
Forecasters say one to three inches of snow/sleet is possible for the Upstate on Friday and into Saturday morning.
Closer to home, we could see a mix of snow and rain for a brief period on Friday morning.
Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Jed Christoph said that as that storm system pushes across the state, it will bring up some warmer air from the south and west; however, he added that it could still be cold enough to support a little snow for a very brief period.
“No accumulation is forecast if we do see a few flakes,” he said. “No real impacts are expected."
If we see any flurries, it would be around 8 a.m., according to recent forecasts. But that chance for snow quickly transitions into a cold rain.
The bottom line: Some flurries are possible but expect mostly rain and cold. “More of a novelty if anything, not an impact,” said Christoph.
People are encouraged to wear warm clothing, a hat, and gloves when outside. Keep pets inside during cold temperatures, and frequently check on older family, friends, and neighbors.
