Zoning for new emergency hospital in Minot approved

MINOT, ND (KXNET) — On Tuesday, the Minot Planning Commission heard from several members of the community both for and against the now-approved zoning change.
The proposed emergency hospital would be located on the north side of the 83-Bypass, at Eighth Street Northwest.
The hospital, being developed by Expectational Healthcare out of Texas, would serve to handle emergencies for short-term patient services.

Minot Planning Commissioner Robert Kibler spoke in favor of moving forward with the project and said the hospital would definitely fill a need in the community.
"Many people in this room will remember, before the flood, we didn't have any medical care in the north, we didn't have any grocery stores in the north, and so it seems to me that this medical facility, which is not a full facility, fills some definite need," said Kibler.
Before the project can go forward, the developers of the hospital must create a site plan as well as get final approval on a developer's agreement by the city council.
