Lake Catholic football quartet highlights OHSFCA academic AllOhio list
Jan 09, 2025
The Lake Catholic football team had a standard-setting season this past fall when the Cougars went 12-1 and advanced to the Division IV regional semifinal round.
Awards continued to pour into the team this week as four members of the team have been honored as being Academic All-Ohioans, per the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.
Receiver/defensive back Ace Peterlin, linebacker/running back Jimmy Gibbons, receiver/defensive back Patrick Radigan and linebacker Luke Joy were all named individual academic All-Ohioans by the coaches association.
The OHSFCA annually recognize both individuals and teams for their academic success.
“These guys set the standard for our program in a lot of different ways,” Coach Marty Gibbons said. “All four bring different things to the table, but they’re very consistent in their work ethic both on and off the field. This recognition is an indicator of how they can perform not only as players, but also on the academic end as well.”
To be eligible for academic All-Ohio honors, one must have a 3.6 grade-point average or better while also earning first team all-district or all-conference honors.
Aside from the Lake Catholic quartet, other area academic All-Ohioans are University’s Theo Dengler, Gilmour’s Cooper Panteck and Chagrin Falls’ Sam Stauffer.
A quintet of area teams were also honored for their team-wide academic success – Riverside, Gilmour, Perry, University and Chagrin Falls.
