I find it very disheartening that Vail Resorts has chosen to try and break the ski patrol union of Park City Mountain. With so little natural snowfall it was not surprising to me that Vail Resorts did not re-enter negotiations with the ski patrol even though it was the busiest week of the year on Day 1 of the strike.  What is truly shocking to me, though, is that starting on Day 2, storm after storm started rolling in with significant snowfall every single day and record crowds, and Vail Resorts still refused to come to the table.  Most distressing is an Instagram post by Dierdre Walsh that no comments were allowed on only the like or send buttons. This piece is so disrespectful to the ski patrol. It does not give any hint whatsoever as to what Vail Resorts’ issue is with the ski patrol, nor does it mention any future move by Vail Resorts to settle this strike. The only comment at all regarding the ski patrol is that it is unfortunate they chose to strike. Meanwhile, there is no detail provided as to how Vail Resorts is keeping the public safe while missing 200 ski patrollers who are standing at the roundabout and elsewhere on strike.  Who will evacuate a lift should that be necessary? All Vail mentions is that they will only be opening beginner and intermediate terrain in the meantime. Vail you need to do better. This is beginning to feel like short-sighted corporate bullying.Mary Pat BuckmanPark CityThe post Must do better appeared first on Park Record.
