EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - As UTEP prepares for the Battle of I-10 on Saturday, the anticipation surrounding the game continues to grow. In a potential sellout in addition to the competition being dubbed as a 'Blue Out,' the environment is bound to set the scene for the rivalry game. "I'm expecting a great crowd," said UTEP forward Otis Frazier III. "I've never seen the Don sold out. You see old pictures of the Don sold out in the back in the day when Don Haskins was here. I think it'll be a great atmosphere and I think it'll be a really good game." This will be Frazier's third time facing off with the Aggies at home, but says this years addition will take on a whole new meaning. Frazier leads the team with 4.9 rebounds and 13.9 points per game, helping the Miners sit with a 12-3 record ahead of Saturday. This week more than ever, the forward feels he has something to prove. "I've never been beaten by the New Mexico State at home, so it's big for me." Frazier said. "It's big for the city especially, we know the bragging rights to go with it. I think it's big overall with everything that comes with it." Guard Devon Barnes has been a major factor in the teams success as well averaging 10.9 points. An El Paso native, Barnes now has the opportunity to partake in a rivalry he grew up learning about. "This is real big," Barnes said. "It's real, I would say, personal. I think it's big for me with it being a rival game. I think we'll rowdy fans and a loud atmosphere. It'll be good crowd and it'll be a great experience." The Miners will look for its seventh consecutive win against NMSU, with the winner earning the top spot in Conference USA. A win would also tie its best start to the season since 2010-2011. Ensuring they stick to their style of play they feel will be its key to success. "We've been in practice and we've been scouting the guys, they a really good team," said Frazier. "We know what they're coming in here and bringing. I think if we stay discipline and do what we need to do, we'll be just fine." "We need to just be us," said Barnes. "If we just be us from the tip, we'll be good. Just be us, be confident, and we'll good." Tipoff from the Don Haskins Center is set for 7 p.m., January 11th.
