WASHINGTON, D.C.– The official state funeral for President Jimmy Carter is underway in Washington D.C. President Joe Biden has declared Jan. 9th a national day of mourning, issuing an order to close all executive departments and federal government agencies. The president also ordered all U.S. flags to fly at half-staff for 30 days. Former President Carter died on December 29th, at the age of 100. President Elect Trump and Melania Trump paid their respects to the former president on Wednesday. Carter’s state funeral is set for 10 a.m. ET at the Washington National Cathedral.
