(KRON) -- A man who shot and killed another man on an Orinda road in September will not be charged, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office said. The DA painted a story of self-defense in a press release put out Wednesday. The shooting happened on Sept. 12 in a residential area of Orinda -- Las Vegas Road and La Espiral. Police arrived to find a man who suffered a gunshot to the neck. 4 people found dead inside Santa Rosa home in suspected homicide: police The DA's office said a Toyota 4Runner being driven by 50-year-old Scott Decker was moving slowly on St. Stephens Drive when another driver passed it. Decker responded by pulling in front of the other driver and blocking his path. Decker got out of his car and punched the driver in the face three times. The driver responded by taking out a handgun and firing a single shot, per the DA's office. "After a thorough review of the evidence and the circumstances of the assault on the driver, theDistrict Attorney’s Office concluded that no charges will be filed in this case," the DA's office said. The shooter was a registered gun owner with a concealed carry permit. He provided dashcam video of the shooting to law enforcement. Decker was a resident of Orinda and Truckee. He died at the scene.
