PARSONS, Kan. (KSNW) – An Augusta man is grateful for a second chance at life after surviving a plane crash near Parsons last month.  Michael Ribordy was on about an hour's flight from Coffey County to Parsons just days after Christmas to meet up with friends when his plane hit an electrical line and crashed.  His friends rushed to get him out of the cockpit as gas covered the plane.  "One of my friends said, 'He's gone! He's gone!' He just started running toward the crash. He finally found me, and I was just mangled up in a ball in there. He said, 'Oh my goodness!' He says he remembered lifting up the airplane and yelling at the guys to come to help them," said Michael.  Upon the rubble, a pulse. Michael was found, bones sticking out of his arm, with a broken jaw. He woke up days later at the hospital in Kansas City, not remembering the crash, shocked he was still alive.  Friends remember Dodge City man killed in icy crash "I should be dead," said Michael.  He held his 3-month-old son, Kasen, and called the experience unbelievable.  "I was just overwhelmed with joy and grace because I was like I was here to be able to raise my son and be with my wife," said Michael.  His wife, Gabrielle Ribordy, said only faith brought them their son and gave them a second chance at raising him.  "We had been trying for a little over five years to get pregnant, so God blessed us with that miracle this year, but then just knowing that God had his hands on Michael this whole time and that he was going to give him a second chance, is just a miracle in itself," said Gabrielle.  As to whether he'll get back behind the sticks and fly again? "I keep joking, saying my wife keeps blocking the Trade-A-Plane websites and Barnstormers, me trying to look for a new airplane," said Michael. His wife said the skies are where he belongs, and he will get back at it again soon.  "I'm not stopping him. It's in his blood. It'll definitely come once he's healed and ready to go again," said Gabrielle.  Michael said the next step on the road to recovery is facial reconstruction surgery, which will take place on Friday.  He said they are thankful for the nearly $25,000 donated by people to help get him out of the hospital and to continue raising his son. You can find the GoFundMe for Michael and his family here.
