PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The DaVinci Center on Charles Street will be open as a warming center Wednesday night.
The night prior, Providence City Councilors opened City Hall as a warming shelter for the homeless community.
The spokesperson also said the mayor’s administration gave approval for use of the DaVinci Center, which is a community center.
This comes after Mayor Brett Smiley said that he doesn’t agree with Tuesday night’s decision.
Councilman Miguel Sanchez said the council has been calling for more shelter beds for the winter months.
The DaVinci Center will be open on Wednesday and Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
