Auto theft suspect arrested after ramming police cars, chase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police have arrested a suspected car thief they say rammed two squad cars and tried to force his way into a driver's vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
MPD said that around 4:30 pm, officers attempted to detain the male in the 4200 block of Macon Road in the Nutbush area, but he took off, hitting the occupied police vehicles.
The suspect allegedly led officers on a chase to Chelsea and Warford and bailed out of the car he was driving after an officer stopped him with his vehicle.

String of shootings could be gang-related, police say
MPD said the suspect tried to enter an occupied vehicle but was taken into custody.
The suspect was transported to Methodist University in non-critical condition. He was wanted in connection to several auto thefts and auto burglaries.
The suspect was not identified by police.
