(WFRV) - A young girl from Wisconsin is one of a 'baker's dozen' participating in Season 13 of the Food Network channel's 'Kid's Baking Championship.' 11-year-old Carly Van Pelt from Lake Geneva is competing with 11 other youth across America in the competition. Van Pelt got her start as a kid baker making treats for her dogs and horses. Food Network Van Pelt is now working with her own business, baking macarons and many other trees for people. This season's theme is 'Amazing Animals,' and Van Pelt is especially excited because she loves baking and animals. Got that dawg in you? MUG Root Beer says prove it! "I love baking because it's really fun to make something you know someone else will really enjoy," Van Pelt said. "This is the perfect season to be on because I love animals. I actually make dog treats." The competition's first episode aired on the Food Network channel on Monday at 7 p.m. The rest of the episodes will continue to run on Mondays at 7 p.m. until the season finale in March. Episodes also will stream on HBO's streaming service, MAX, on the day after episodes air. The winner of the show gets a feature in the Food Network Magazine as well as a $25,000 grand prize.
