Local man gathers over 3k pounds of food with light display

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A Colorado Springs man who has been collecting donations and non-perishable food items for charity by gathering the community at his Christmas light display not only reached his goal this year, but exceeded it!
Mark Ingles has been setting up a vibrant Christmas display at his home and gathering donations for 10 years, and this past Christmas, he had set a goal of gathering 3,000 pounds of donated food to be shared with Care and Share Food Bank.

Ingles sent an update to FOX21 News on Jan. 8 celebrating a successful food drive. Ingles said Timberline Landscaping helped transport all the donated food to Care and Share and the total was 3,144 pounds!

Ingles added that he also gathered $170 in monetary donations, which covers another 850 pounds of food for the food bank. All in all, the monetary donations added with the food donations brought the total to almost 4,000 pounds. In addition, Ingles also raised $1,421 for the Springs Rescue Mission.
"To say the least, both efforts experienced big increases from last year!" Ingles said in an email to FOX21. "And being the 10th Anniversary of my partnership with Care & Share, that made it even more special."
Ingles expressed his gratitude and appreciation for everyone who came to visit his display and donated.
