CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former Knight and Chicago White Sox pitcher Sergio Santos has been named manager of the Charlotte Knights for the 2025 season, according to a news release. Santos, 41, becomes the 26th manager in franchise history and the fourth former Knight to manage the team. Santos managed the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the White Sox, in 2024 where he led the team to a Southern League Championship. He also won the club a first-half division title with a 41-28 record. Overall, the Barons finished 72-66 along with the championship win over the Montgomery Biscuits. Santos appeared in three games with the Knights in 2009 before pitching in the major league for six years. In 194 career MLB appearances, Santos posted a 7-12 record with 39 saves, 227 strikeouts and a 3.98 ERA. Prior to managing the Barons, Santos led the FCL Yankees to an FCL Championship in 2022 in his first season as a manager. He was named the 2022 FCL Manager of the Year. Overall, Santos has a 180-145 record as a manager in the minor league across three seasons.
