BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Family and friends said a couple who died when the car they were in collided at high speed with a Bakersfield police vehicle had been drinking earlier, according to a warrant. Ignacio Javier Banderas Hernandez, 29, and Krystal Rubi Reynaga, 26, suffered fatal injuries and their 2-year-old son was badly injured in an Oct. 13 crash in east Bakersfield. Neither Hernandez -- the driver -- nor Reynaga or the child were wearing seat belts or properly secured, police said. KCSO searching for 2 suspects involved in Pizza Hut robbery on Niles Street The car was traveling between 87 to 107 mph at impact, according to the warrant filed by police investigators in Superior Court. The police vehicle was traveling 55 mph. The two officers in the police vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said. The car was speeding north on Kern Street and ran a stop sign at Niles Street, police said, traveling directly in the path of the westbound police vehicle. The police vehicle did not have a stop sign.
