RPD: 2 men apprehended in home invasion robbery on Clay Ave.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two people were taken into custody after a home invasion robbery on Clay Avenue.
Rochester police arrived at the 400 block Wednesday morning and saw one suspect police described as 40-year-old Terraine Staples run from the home. Shortly after, 34-year-old Jeremy Hanks left the home holding a 6-year-old child.
Police said Hanks dropped the child and attempted to run from police before both suspects were apprehended.
Police said after investigation it was found that the suspects kicked in the front door of the house while in possession of what appeared to be firearms, yelling for the residents to "give them the money".
A quantity of stolen cash, a loaded handgun and a replica firearm were recovered by police. Officers said the victims in the home invasion — several adults and children — were not injured.
Hanks was treated and released from a local hospital as a precaution because he was tased, and both suspects were then transported to Monroe County Jail. They were both charged with Burglary (1st), Robbery (1st), Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2nd and 3rd), Grand Larceny (4th). Police also noted that both Staples and Hanks cannot possess a firearm due to a past conviction. Staples is currently on Parole.
