CHILI, N.Y. (WROC) — In Chili, two commercial development projects are still in the works. At the former site of the town hall on Chili Ave., the developers are coming back to the town board with new plans following a planning board meeting last month. The town sold them the land about two years ago. At the site, they look to add some apartment buildings, and town supervisor David Dunning says that they appear to have some interest from Chipotle, Panera, and Starbucks. On the other side of Chili Avenue, the developers of the former Walgreens building, which was also proposed to have a Chipotle at one point, have tabled their upcoming planning board meeting. On housing, Dunning says the apartments next to the Wegmans have one section that is leasable, another is waiting on its certificate of occupancy, and the thrid is under construction. Dunning adds that the town is looking to add more single-family homes, and expects developers to add 100-200 homes this year. On municipal projects, Dunning says they are adding a new sidewalk on Paul Road from the plaza to just past Davis Park. Its a $1.5 million project with half of the bill footed by the county. Work is expected to start in the spring. Site work is also expected to start on a new park at a 48-acre parcel on Archer Road. Finally: "The state of NY will be redoing the intersection of Chili and Union this spring which I know will be an inconvenience our residents I know that… But the intersection needs an upgrade so desperately bad," he said. Work is expected to go into 2026.
