Weather forecast: More cold, more lake effect
Jan 08, 2025
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Snow showers are lingering around the Rochester area this evening as continued stout NW winds pour over the lake. There won't be much in the way of additional accumulation, but the cold is the real deal. Temperatures in the teens and wind chills around zero will keep us shivering until morning.

Snow that falls Wednesday night into Thursday night will favor east of Rochester. Several more inches may fall as a Winter Weather Advisory remains for Wayne County.
We finally get a break Friday as winds weaken, turn more southerly, and skies briefly clear out by mid-day. Temperature rebound a bit into the middle 20s. This doesn't last long as another system sweeps in Friday night into Saturday, bringing an area-wide snow amounting to another inch or two. There might be some LES behind this Sunday, but it's too early to tell how it will impact us.
We've got another cold blast early next week, so that will mean more pesky lake effect Tuesday and Wednesday, potentially a similar situation to what we have now.
