Peninsula KFC closes after nearly 60 years, replaced by Filipino restaurant
Jan 08, 2025
(KRON) -- A longtime KFC location has shut its doors for good. The restaurant, located at 7199 Mission St. in Daly City, closed in June 2024 after its lease expired, a KFC spokesperson told KRON4.
The KFC was open for 58 years. The fried chicken chain called it a "difficult decision" to close as the restaurant had undergone multiple remodels and had been a fixture on the corner of Mission and Garibaldi streets since the 1960s.
Longtime patrons of the now-closed KFC don't have to go far for their fried chicken fix. Filipino chain Jollibee is located about three blocks away on Mission Street. There are two other KFC locations in Daly City -- one on Geneva Avenue and another on Westmoor Avenue.
The replacement for the decades-old KFC will be Willie's Catering, a Filipino restaurant. It applied for a business license last September, according to Daly City Economic Development Specialist Maybelle Manio. The restaurant has not opened yet, but a sign says it is "coming soon."

Willie's Catering replaces a longtime KFC restaurant that has been in operation on Mission Street for nearly six deacdes.
The former KFC is located about three blocks away from Jefferson High School and across the street from local barbecue staple Fil-Am Cuisine.
KRON4 reached out to Willie's Catering & Restaurant for more information about its opening. We did not hear back in time for publication.
