TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas transportation authorities will be temporarily closing a highway bridge in the Topeka area on Friday. Kate Craft with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) said in a press release that the southbound U.S. 75 Highway flyover bridge connecting to eastbound I-70 and Gage Boulevard will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 10. Crews will post a detour route taking drivers to westbound I-70, Fairlawn Road and back onto eastbound I-70. Drivers are encouraged to follow the detour route or take another alternate route. KDOT crews will post message boards and signage to alert drivers of the closure and direct them to detour routes. What schools are canceling class in northeast Kansas on Thursday? Craft said the closure is so that workers can continue to make repairs on the bridge as part of a larger ongoing project.
