Another brush fire broke out Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 8, in Acton, to the northeast of Santa Clarita, prompting evacuations in the area. Firefighters responded to the Lidia fire around 1 p.m. to the 5700 block of Soledad Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. By 2:30 p.m., the fire had grown to 50 acres. Officials earlier estimated the fire was burning between five and seven acres around 2 p.m. A Sig Alert was issued by the California Highway Patrol, closing Soledad Canyon Road between Agua Dulce Canyon Road and Crown Valley Road. Firefighting aircraft were dispatched and the Fire Department has requested additional crews. Los Angeles County reported evacuations were ordered for anyone north of Mount Gleason Road; south of Soledad Canyon Road, Calmgarden Road and White Spur Lane; east of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clara Truck Trail and Indian Canyon Road and west of Aliso Canyon Road and Mount Gleason Road. Evacuation points were established at these locations: –Agoura Animal Care Center Small Animals, 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, CA 91301 –LA Equestrian Center Large Animal Shelter, 480 Riverside Dr, Burbank, CA 91506 –Pierce College Equestrian Center for large animals, 6201 Winnetka Ave, Woodland Hills, CA 91367 –Westwood Recreation Center LA City Shelter, 1350 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025 Structures were threatened because of the fire, but the Fire Department couldn’t specify how many. Fire officials called Metrolink to inform the agency not to run trains on railroads in the area as crews work to extinguish the blaze, KCAL reported. No injuries have been reported. Crews were battling the Lidia fire along with several other wildfires fueled by Santa Ana winds across the Los Angeles metro area, including the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires.
