UPDATE: All of Henrico County under a boil water advisory
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County now has a new webpage featuring live updates about the water outage for residents of the county.
In a Facebook post, Henrico County Public Works & Public Utilities shared an update on the attempts made in resolving the water issues, as well as an announcement that there is now a webpage on the county's website that will provide live updates as soon as it becomes available.
Last night, on Tuesday, Jan. 7, work crews closed two large valves in efforts to push water from western Henrico into eastern Henrico, but the process was proved to be insufficient in resolving the issue.
This morning, Wednesday, Jan. 8, work crews blocked off remaining connections to the City of Richmond's water system.
According to Henrico County, after access to the city's water was disconnected and the valves were closed successfully, the work crews are now attempting to fill up the pressure zone at Laburnum/Azalea -- one of the most severely impacted zones, along with the Sandston area.
Henrico County said the Laburnum/Azalea zone is now being fed by western Henrico's Greater Hermitage zone, which receives water from Henrico's Water Treatment Facility. Crews will keep a watch on the pressure points until water pressure has been restored, then crews will be will feed from this zone to the Great Eubank zone -- including most of the Varina district.
The county explained that there is one 16-inch pipe feeding between the Laburnum/Azalea and Greater Eubank zones and takes time for the water to travel into the zone for pressure, which is why the process has been "lengthy."

In usual circumstances, both of the zones would normally feed off of the City of Richmond's water treatment plant, however, it will take more time for water to make it to the impacted zones. The county expressed that crews are working continuously to fully restore water in the county as soon as possible.
