RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Chilly weather continues and the latest data indicates an improving chance for a majority snow event Friday night and into Saturday morning.  We will be VIPIR Alert from Friday 7pm until Saturday 10am.   That’s the window in which the snow will fall. Tonight, other than a few clouds it will be fair and still cold.  Look for the overnight lows to fall into the middle teens. Tomorrow, we will see a good amount of sunshine in the area, with the winds being a little gusty at time.   The highs are going to warm up into the lower to middle 30s, but there will be a bit of a bite in the air. Then we turn to Friday.  The weather system which has played a part in the terrible Los Angeles fires is going to spawn a system along the Gulf Coast.   This system will be spreading wintry weather through the Deep South.   Atlanta is under a Winter Storm Watch right now for 1”-3” of snow.  Clouds will increase on Friday starting around the lunch hour. Light snow will move in during the evening hours, and we should see it here between 9pm and 10pm. The snow continues overnight but will start to taper off right after daybreak. Snowfall will be concentrated in the southern 2/3rds of the state—Washington will miss out on most of this one. By Saturday afternoon we see clearing skies and highs in the upper 30s. Next week is chilly, but the holiday weekend could end up being interesting as the long range models brew up a storm for the eastern part of the nation.
