RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- HCA Healthcare has announced that most of its HCA Virginia Health System hospitals are open and accepting new patients despite water issues in parts of Central Virginia. According to the healthcare system, Retreat Doctors' Hospital is fully operational and all procedures are advancing as scheduled. In addition, Hanover Emergency Center is open and caring for patients, however, due to water issues, EMS "remains on diversion." Johnston-Willis Hospital, Henrico Doctors', Henrico Doctors' - Forest, Parham Doctors' hospitals and Swift Creek ER are fully operational and have reportedly not been affected by water issues relating to the City of Richmond's water plant. The healthcare system added that Chippenham Hospital is open, but is experiencing water pressure issues. HCA Healthcare said it has arranged for 15 tanker trucks of water, four pumping systems and two generators providing over 400,000 gallons of water per day to continue hospital operations. (Photo: HCA Healthcare) The healthcare system said it also has provided more than 700,000 bottles of drinking water for patients, a total of 18,000 gallons of drinking water since Monday and 7,000 pounds of ice for patients.
