Fans not permitted at UR women’s basketball game due to Richmond water crisis

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Fans will not be allowed at the University of Richmond women's basketball game Wednesday night -- where they'll take on George Mason University -- due to the ongoing water crisis in the city.
Following multiple malfunctions of the city's reservoir system, Richmond remains largely without water as of Wednesday, Jan. 8. The crisis began on Monday, Jan. 6 during the first winter storm of 2025.
In an announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, UR's women's basketball announced that fans will not be allowed at Wednesday night's game due to these water issues. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. and will be livestreamed.
