Westport Police warn residents of unpaid toll scam
Jan 08, 2025
WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — The Westport Police Department is warning residents of a recent scam involving text messages that claim they have unpaid toll balances.
Westport police said the texts appear to be sent from EZDriveMA, which is a program where Massachusetts residents can pay their highway tolls online.
The false message claims the recipient’s toll balance needs to be paid soon.
However, Massachusetts officials said drivers would never be contacted through text to pay a toll balance, according to Westport police.
The Westport Police Department asks residents to check all text messages for authenticity.
