Records show Dussault was serving 20 years for a gun theft case when he escaped in 1996 from the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls with three other inmates.
12 News previously reported that the inmates escaped by cutting an opening in the chain-link roof of the facility's recreational yard.
Dussault was apprehended again and given three more years in prison for the escape.
He is expected to appear back in court for a status conference hearing on Jan. 14.
