LPD Has Handled Several Stolen Vehicle Reports Over a FiveYear Period

Lincoln Police cruiser. (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Jan. 8)–Between 2020 and 2024, Lincoln Police have taken more than 3,200 stolen vehicle reports, which averages out to 640 a year.
But the recovery rate is at 95%, according to LPD public information manager Erika Thomas. She says it takes about 12 days on average to return those stolen vehicles to their respective owners. To avoid becoming victim of a stolen vehicle, here are some reminders, such as never leave your vehicle unlocked and take the keys with you.
Also, Thomas says don’t leave your car running an unattended, especially at this time of the year. Park in well-lit areas and never leave guns inside.
