Sherwood was released from state prison following a child pornography conviction and immediately went back to reaching out to minors across the country.
According to the release, Sherwood manipulated young girls into producing explicit images by sending money and items from their Amazon wish lists. If the girls refused, Sherwood threatened to send the images to the victim's parents or to harm himself.

U.S. District Judge William M. Conley noted at the sentencing that Sherwood was willing to exploit victims directly and enjoyed it. The 16-year sentence came from the seeming lack of remorse for previous crimes and that it would be difficult for Sherwood to change without severe punishment.
