UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 1/8/2025 1:46 p.m. (COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to CSP, the investigation has revealed that a second dark-colored pickup truck may have been involved that also drove away from the scene. Investigators are asking people living in the surrounding neighborhood with security cameras that record the road to call Colorado State Patrol Dispatch at (719) 544-2424. UPDATE: CSP looking for truck, driver involved in fatal hit-and-run WEDNESDAY 1/8/2024 11:25 a.m. The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is seeking help from the community after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Wednesday morning, Jan. 8. According to CSP, troopers responded to the intersection of Peterson Road and Constitution Avenue just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday. CSP said the driver of a pickup truck hit a pedestrian before driving from the scene. Troopers said the victim, identified as a 76-year-old woman, was pronounced dead on the scene. CSP said the driver has not yet been identified, and investigators are asking for the community's help in identifying the vehicle and suspect driving. "The vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored pickup and may be lifted," wrote CSP. "The vehicle may have damage to the grill, front corners of the vehicle, and possibly the bumper." ORIGINAL STORY: Pedestrian vs. vehicle crash closes lanes in East Springs WEDNESDAY 1/8/2024 8:10 a.m. The Cimarron Hills Fire Department (CHFD) reported that crews responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Peterson Road and Constitution Avenue on Wednesday, Jan. 8, around 7:15 a.m. According to CHFD, the crash is blocking the intersection, closing the eastbound lanes on Constitution and the northbound lanes on Peterson. Drivers are asked to take alternate routes to avoid the area. FOX21 News has reached out to law enforcement and will update the article when more details are available.
